11th August 2020: Model and Photographer Cancellation

Today was almost unbelievable. Both my model and photographer have cancelled and I can’t see a way around it. My model is feeling ill and doesn’t want to risk being out for the next couple of weeks, of course, because of coronavirus- and my photographer is stuck in Hungary and doesn’t know when he will get back.
I am OK with doing photography myself, and getting friends who are not professional models to help with some of the shoots. However, I want at least one of my shoots to be highly professional. This means collaborating with experts in the field to produce an optimum result. I was so excited to have a shoot planned using a professional model complimented by professional photography. This was going to be ‘’the’’ shoot. And now I can’t see what I am going to do.
The model and photographer of choice are close friends, and were happy to work for me for free. I cannot afford to pay anything at this moment in time which is a HUGE hinderance of course. If I could then I’m sure I could find someone else within the next couple of days.
I have been trying to problem solve the issue with the model in terms of contacting a modelling agency named ‘’Contact’’. I did an internship with them Summer 2019, so thought I would reach out to the founder who I had a close report with to see if I can get a model for a couple of hours for no charge. As expected, I did get a reply, but this ‘solution’ came to no avail.
I have asked various members of my Conde Nast cohort who are keen photographers to help out but they are with their families in other countries due to COVID-19. It really has bought to light how much the dynamic of things changes in the midst of a global pandemic. It has made me think about how much the fashion world has to be changed and has changed due to COVID-19. I wonder: should I simply use my laptop to take the photos? Not only is this highly relevant to what is happening in the world right now with the likes of zoom being used to take photos, but it will allow me to create something purposefully artistic and imperfect. I don’t know!
