Today, I took all the planning I have done in my R and D book exploring the topic of sexual objectification and ran with it. I arrived at the studio early in order to set everything up including a black background inspired by Benjamin Spiers (see R+D book) and paint the model blue and apply the wig for styling.
It was then that I was ready to shoot, and then a problem arrived- the DSLR camera was not turning on. It was a camera from a friend, and I should have clarified that it was properly working beforehand. Rather than panic, I stayed rational and simply used whatever was the next best option: using a high quality iphone for the shoot. It was the best I could come up with in the moment, so I didn't let myself get too down about it.
Yes, the photos did not come out quality wise as well as I had planned (see R+D book), however I was very happy with the amount of variation of poses I was able to achieve in poses through improvisation and referencing research images (see R+D book for more). I am proud of myself for keeping my cool and not panicking in a situation where I definitely would have done in the past. This shows my improvement in professionalism on shoots which I am happy with as I need to learn to problem solve in a creative workplace in the future for success.
I have decided to name the shoot ''Table Cervix'' as a play on words for ''Table Service''. This highlights the sexual objectification of the woman as a piece of furniture perfectly, and highlights the female as something to be taken from in the way in which a table is.
